KwaZulu Natal Police Commissioner Khombinkosi Jula has welcomed a sentencing of a 40 years old Mzwandile Mlambo who was given double life imprisonment plus 14 years behind bars for the murder of his in-laws.
It is alleged according to police that on 15 April 2017 at around 20:00, Nontuthuko Tenza (60) and Shumilakhe Tenza (61) were at their home at Nazareth area in Umzimkhulu in KZN when they were attacked by an unknown man.
Shots were fired through the window, striking the victims in the head and stomach. Both victims died due to the nature of injuries sustained.
Charges of murder case were opened for investigation by Umzimkhulu SAPS.
It was later revealed through thorough investigations that Mlambo was the perpetrator.
He was arrested and found in possession of the firearm used to commit the crime. Investigators also found that the firearm was stolen on the 13th of April same year.
He made his final appearance at the Umzimkhulu Regional Court and the case was finalised on March 25 where he was given this heavy sentence.
