Yet another tough task ahead of Cape Town’s soccer team Cape Town City as they are set to face 2021 MTN8 champions Mamelodi Sundowns this coming Saturday after suffering a (2)1-1(3) loss in the penalty shootout during the MTN8 competition.
Cape Town City just recently suffered a 2-0 loss in a match against AmaZulu a week ago.
Holding the 9th position on the PSL log with 13 points after 9 games with three losses, they are up against the Brazilians who are currently sitting at the number 1 spot with 25 points, 0 losses after 9 games having only registered one draw.
City’s coach Eric Tinkler said that it is obvious that they are not happy with the team’s performance lately they still need to soldier and continue fighting.
He also said that the MTN8 loss in the final also played a role psychologically in the team’s performance.
“Even though this cannot be used as an excuss, our match against AmaZulu was simply not good enough” he said.
He said that they gave players some time off following the MTN8 loss just to recover and hopefully leave the past in the past and focus on the next eight matches.
