400m WR holder Wayde van Niekerk said he is not happy with his latest performance at the Olympics after exiting the men’s 400m at the semi-final stage at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Running in the eighth lane, van Niekerk finished in fifth place in 45.14sec behind Steven Gardiner in the third semi-final.

“Very disappointed with the run. I expected way more from myself, but it didn’t work out the way I wanted it to work out,” said Van Niekerk.

“It is what it is and we move forward” he added.
