Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekgoa is set to give an update Covid-19 effect in the Basic Education sector later today.

Having moved to alert level 3 lockdown nationally, the country has also seen a rapid increase in the Covid-19 cases with the Health Department recording daily cases now in the range of five digits.

It was also reported earlier this week that Gauteng have already recorded 2000 new cases of learners who affected who were tested positive.

As a result, some schools were allegedly forced to be shut down.

This is also several parents and unions seek clarity from the Minister on how they plan to maneuver around avoiding further infections since they plan to go on full-time learning as of July.

The department said they want to do away with rotational schooling for learners more especially at primary level seeing that learners are struggling to cope with being absent from school on some days and present on some days.
