The North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management say they have recorded over 15 lives that were lost on the roads during this Easter break.

Department Spokesperson Oshebeng Koonyaditse expressed worry at the time of which some of the lives were lost taking into consideration that the country is still under lockdown.

All citizens are still subjected to a 00:00 to 04:00 curfew which was announced by President Matamela Ramaphosa last month.

“These figures are still to be collated and are preliminary as of Monday, April 5th afternoon.”

“Four of these fatalities resulted from head on collision and four are pedestrians. Ngaka Modiri District recorded more crashes but more fatalities were on N12 near Klerksdorp” said Koonyaditse.
