In continuation of observing lockdown regulations and conducting roadblocks nation wide, police managed to nab a 35 years old suspect in the Western Cape who was transporting drugs disguised as vegetables.
This happened on Thursday during a roadblock on the N2 highway near Plettenberg Bay. The suspect failed to produce documentation permitting him to be on the road at a time of a lockdown where everyone is expected to be home unless they are essential workers.
He was then escorted to the police station for verification, it was only after a thorough inspection when the officials spotted stacked packets of drugs underneath the vegetables.
About 109 parcels of compressed dagga were confiscated and arrested a 35-year-old suspect on charges of dealing in drugs.
They believe these drugs were destined for distribution in the Southern Cape.
The drugs are worth an estimated amount of R 650 000.00.
