Tenant mauled to death by owner’s pitbulls

Police in the North West have opened an I quest following the of a 39 years old Pakistani who ended up losing his life after being bitten pit bull dogs on new year day, January 1st, 2026 in Vryburg.

Lieutenant Colonel Sam Tselanyane said that the police received a call from the hospital about a man who was transported to the facility by Emergency Services at around 02:30.

Upon arrival, police were directed to a surgical ward, where they found a man lying on a bed with no signs of life.

The deceased sustained wounds and scratches on both his hands and legs, after allegedly being bitten by pit bull dogs.

Investigations are still continuing while the police also found out that the said deceased man had been renting a room at the place where he was bitten.

They also found out that the deceased was not the first victim of the said dogs. To add on this case, police say there is a pending case that is due to be heard before the local Magistrates’ Court in February.

The dogs were euthanised a day after the passing of this latest victim on Saturday, 03 January 2026, after consultation with the owner. No arrests have been made at this stage, and an inquest is being investigated.
