Man sentenced to 15 years for the murder of young Desmond Tutu

Police spokesperson from the North West province, Brigadier Sabata Mokgoabone has confirmed the sentencing of a 29 years old man for the stabbing and killing of a 25 years man by the name of Desmond Tutu.
The incident is said to have occurred in Kanana Location near Orkney, outside Klerksdorp where the victim, Tutu, was found with his two friends on Sunday evening, 27 February 2022, by the perpetrator Papa Madule.
He emerged from the nearby tavern and asked the victim if he was a member of the SVK gang. Although the victim replied that he was not, the accused stabbed him in the chest with a knife and then ran away.
Police and paramedics were summoned to the scene, where the victim was declared dead.A case of murder was registered and taken by the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit for investigation, which resulted in Madule’s arrest on Thursday, 3 March 2022. The accused was later granted R5,000 .00 bail. Following a series of court appearances, Madule was found guilty and sentenced.
Making his last appearance at Klerksdorp Regional Court, Madule was sentenced to 15 years of direct imprisonment on Friday, 14 March 2025. The court further declared the accused unfit to possess a firearm in terms of Section 103 of the Firearms Control Act, 2000.
