Mpumalanga Hawks arrest one of their own for fraud and corruption

Mpumalanga Hawks based in Nelspruit found themselves in a tight corner in executing their duties where they were forced to arrest one of their own on alleged charges of fraudbamong others.

Captain Dineo Sekgotodi said that they arrested a 47 years old Sergeant Kgaugelo Aubrey Mogale following an investigation by one of the biggest adding firms in the world, KPMG earlier this month.

“The arrest followed after a financial investigation was carried out by the auditing firm KPMG during the Project Blood Orange investigation.”

“It was discovered that the Sergeant, was one of the team members involved in the investigation, unduly received an amount of R6000, deposited by the main suspect in the case, into his account over a period of time.”

“Internal investigation was conducted which also established that the member did not disclose the financial benefit of R6000.”

Sekgotodi also added that a warrant of arrest issued and executed after the Public Prosecutor decided that there is a prima facie case against the member.

He was later released on R 1000 bail pending another appearance in court on June 27th, 2024.

He was charged with corruption and defeating the ends of justice and fraud.
