Man who killed woman at the request of her mother sentenced

The High Court in Polokwane has handed down a life sentence to a 34 years old man Ngoako Japhter Mabetlela for the murder of Lebogang Prudence Lediga three years ago.
NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi said that the matter occurred on May 28th, 2020 where the now convicted Mabetlela strangled Lediga to death at her home.
It was later discovered, after thorough investigations that he did that at the request of her mother for financial gain through insurance payment.
The State Adv Malebo Maleka said there is no way Mabetlela should be shown any mercy with a minimum sentence because he had a chance to report the mother to the police but instead he went through with the request.
The deceased mother is serving 20 year after she pleaded guilty, her case was finalised in 2022.
