A man loses his life for R10.00 debt

Bloemfontein Magistrates’ Court has sentenced Thabo Tomanyane to 15 years in prison for the brutal murder of his friend who owed him R10.

Kopanong Police Spokesperson in Bloemfontein Sgt Mahlokola Kareli said that the incident occurred on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 when a group of friends were having a chat at a house in Kgotsong Section.

At about 20:00 when the 24-year-old Tomanyane arrived carrying a bag. He never said anything, but pulled and forced the victim to the street and started stabbing him.

“The 30-year-old victim was stabbed six times in the chest and back and was declared dead at the scene by emergency personnel.”

“Further investigations revealed that the argument was because the victim owed the accused R10.00 and he was there to collect it, but the victim did not have it.”

Tomanyane was arrested few later and police found bloodstained clothing a knife on him when he was being arrested.
