Former Municipal Manager arrested on fraud and theft charges

Former Municipal Manager at Nkomazi local municipality has bee  released on R 10K following a short court appearance at Tonga Magistrates’ Court on 28 October 2022.

Hawks Spokesperson Captain Dineo Sekgotodi said that the 55 years old Muzi Ngwenya allegedly bought a pre-owned Mercedes Benz from a  vehicle dealership in Bedfordview, Johannesburg using the municipality funds.

“He reportedly registered the vehicle on his name, prejudicing the municipality an actual loss of R900 000-00.” 

Captain Sekgotodi added that he is set to face fraud, theft and contravening the Municipal Finance Management Act charges.
