Residents of Jagersfontein in the Free State woke up to devastating scene on Sunday after witnessing a mining dam that bursted and ending up in floods that covered most parts of the nearby residential areas.

The cause behind the collapsing is yet to be established pending further investigations. But many people assume this could be as a result of aging infrastructure that is not properly maintained.
