Man disarms a colleague and shoots his girlfriend

Ikageng Police in the North West are investigating a case of murder, robbery and kidnapping following a murder of two people this past weekend.

Police Spokesperson in the area Colonel Adéle Myburgh said a 32 years old male allegedly overpowered his male colleague and disarmed him of his firearm at Mbobi street in Ikageng on Friday and pointed it at him.

“The male allegedly instructed the victim to call his (suspect)’s 31-year-old girlfriend. The latter arrived a short while later in her Volkswagen Polo, but driven by a male companion, aged 30.”

“Shortly after stopping, the suspect walked towards the vehicle and allegedly fired two shots towards the man and removed him out of the vehicle.”

“He then instructed his colleague to get into the back of the vehicle and drove off. He stopped at in intersection in Bathoeng Street and instructed his colleague to get out of the car and drove off with his girlfriend. In the meantime, the police were called to the murder scene and a lookout was given for the Volkswagen Polo.”

The vehicle was caught few hours later following a shootout with the police and an intervention of members of Flying Squad.

“The driver ultimately pulled off the road, but was found with a bullet wound to his head. Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) were called and the suspect was taken to a local hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.”

The 31 years old female victim was also found in the vehicle with head injuries and was declared dead on the scene.
