Two kids burn to death in Kanana Hammanskraal

Police in Hammanskraal has open an inquest docket following the death of two children who were burned to death in Kanana Hammanskraal this past weekend.

It is said that the two young girls aged 2 and 9 years were in their shack with the 24 years old mother who was cooking at the time when the paraffin stove exploded where the shack later on ignited.

The young mother then fought to save the 3 months old toddler from burning, unfortunately the two got stuck inside the house before they were burned beyond recognition together with the shack.

It is also believed that the motorcycle which was inside the house ignited the fire. Some of the community member and neighbors say they alerted when they heard the screaming of women calling for help.

“Unfortunately we could not make it to the fire in time it was already late” said one neighbor.

The neighbor added that this all can be avoided if only would have listened to them from 6 years ago when they asked them for electricity and to this date their plea is yet to be fulfilled.

Meanwhile, a 29 year old father of the deceased Elias Chauke, says when he returned home, he found lot of Community members, police including fire brigade at his house. He says the life will never be the same for any of them ever again. Chauke say it is very difficult to cope with the situation.

Police have aurged people to vigilant when using a prime stove or anything that might ignite uncontrollable fire.
