Court appearance of 3 of 10 suspects who allegedly gang raped a woman (21)

Continuation of an alleged gang rape case today at Virginia Magistrates Court today.

A 21 years old woman fell victim to a gang rape by 10 suspects who some of them are still at large. Among the said 10 suspects, it is said that the victim’s boyfriend was allegedly involved.

This is according to Captain Stephen Phakeng who said that the incident is said to have occurred on two separate occasions first on January 28.

“On 28 January 2022, at about 22:00 (10pm), a 21-year-old woman was at her rented room in Meloding when 10 known men, including her boyfriend, entered her room carrying knives. They took turns in raping her and the same suspects came the following day at 20:00 (8pm).”
“The victim was gang-raped again by the suspects,” he said.

Three of the 10 suspects were arrested by Welkom POP Reaction Team and made an appearance on 10 February 2022 in Virginia Magistrate Court and the case was postponed till the 17 February 2022 for bail application.

Three other suspects were arrested on the same day while four others are still at large.
