Father who assaulted his 10 month old to death to remain in police custody

A 34 years old man who allegedly assaulted his 10 month old baby to death is set to remain in police custody for the next few days to acquire legal representation and make formal bail application.

The man who now after making several court appearances identified as Klaas Kgasi was charged with murder.

It is said according to NPA and police reports that the incident occurred on January first when the suspect and his partner were attending a party when he left the venue at Tlhabologang in Coligny with the baby.

“while at the party the accused reportedly took the child from the mother to his Aunt’s place at Extension 3. Upon his return after a while, he gave his girlfriend the blanket that the baby was wrapped with and they subsequently went back to their home.”

This is according NPA Spokesperson Henry Mamothame who also said that the mother only found out about the baby’s death after being informed by her neighbors.

They allegedly found the corpse behind the couple’s shack.

“Police were called to the scene and they discovered the baby’s body that had severe assault wounds and bruises. Kgasi was arrested and charged with murder and will remain in police custody until his next court appearance.”
