52 years old woman caught with stolen Eskom property

Court appearance today of a 52 years old woman who was arrested a week ago in Mpumalanga by Nelspruit Hawks’ Serious Organized Crime Investigation Unit, Calcutta SAPS.
The members in blue followed a tip off that was given to them on Monday, January 29th, by Combined Private Investigations (CPI) about suspected stolen copper cables at a house in Mkhulu that were being transported during the night.
Police spokesperson in the province Captain Dineo Sekgotodi said that the followed on the tip off and went to the said house and found no one.
They came back later to find the 52 years old Nombango Claudia Mogiba who gave them permission to search the premises after presenting a search warrant to her. During the search, they discovered aluminum cables suspected to being from Eskom covered by tarpaulin belonging to Transnet.
“More rolls of aluminum cables were found next to the house covered by tarpaulin.”
“Eskom member was summoned to the crime scene and he identified the cables as those belonging to the power utility. Fidelity Guard Investigator also identified the black tarpaulin as Transnet property.”
Captain Sekgotodi added that more aluminum pots were found outside the rood and were suspected to have been manufactured from stolen cables.





Mogiba is expected to make appearance at Calcutta Magistrates Court for formal bail application following a postponement on the same day of arrest.
