Two life sentence plus 22 years each in prison for parents who raped their 5 & 8 years old children

The Pretoria North Regional Court has sentenced a couple to two life sentences and 22 years in prison each on charges of rape and sexual assault on their minor children.
These sexual assault acts by parents started in 2014 on a five years old girl and an eight years old boy who were forced to perform sexual acts between each other and on the parents also.
NPA regional spokesperson Lumka Mahajana said that this couple, 39 years man and 33 years old woman would also sometimes force these kids to watch them have sex, where the mother would later on teach the little daughter how to perform sexual acts on her father.
“The children were found by the Community Policing Forum (CPF) at a near-by park, looking dirty, scared and hungry in August 2014. The CPF took them to the police station where they told the police about where their home was. Upon arrival the police found drugs and the couple was arrested for child neglect and possession of drugs.”
“Other charges relating to rape and sexual offences were added later after the children revealed further information of what had happened to them whilst placed at place of safety. A facility provided by the Department of Social Development” said Mahajana.
The parents pleaded not guilty to the charges.
They were found guilty of rape, compelled rape, sexual assault, sexual grooming, flashing, child neglect and possession of drugs.
The prosecutor, Hanlie du Preez, said it was sad that children are not protected by their parents and are not safe in their homes. The couple did not deserve to be parents therefore the prescribed sentence had to be imposed.
