The incident is said to have occurred on March 13th 2020 where the victim went to a local pub to buy alcohol where she was later on told that she is not allowed to leave with alcohol and decided to stay and rather drink the alcohol within the premises.

“The victim left the pub just after sunset and Mphuti followed her. On the way, he grabbed her and forces her into his employer’s house he was looking after. The house was also used by church members for counselling sessions. He raped her the whole night and also assaulted her. He only allowed to leave the following day in the morning.”

Mphuti was pointed out at an identity parade by the victim following his arrest.

Mphuti however, in his defense said that the victim and him were in a relationship and the intercourse was consensual. The State Prosecutor discredited his claims and told the court that the two only saw each other for the first time previous day at the pub and there was no relations between the two.
