19 people die in a horrific accident on R34

The said head-on collision on the R34 is said to have occurred between Bloemhof and Schweizer Reneke where the deceased were allegedly travelling from Ipelegeng location in Schweizer-Reneke, and were returning to Bloemhof Saturday night.

North West department of Community Safety and Transport Management Spokesperson Ms Boitshoko Moremi said that out of the 22 people involved in the accident, only three people survived, two females and a child leaving family(ies) of the 19 victims of the accident grieving the loss of their loved ones.

The victims who survived are said to be receiving medical care having suffered serious injuries.

It is said that that the victims were all family members who were travelling to Bloemhof in a Quantum when it collided with a truck.

MEC for the department of Community Safety and Transport Management Mr Sello Lehari is set to be families of the victims today. He will be accompanied by Premier Bushy Maape.

MEC continued to call for calm and cautiousness on the roads to avoid such horrific loss of lives.
