The NPA has welcomed a life sentence of a 49 years old traditional healer who committed a sexual offence on a teenager exactly six (6) years ago.

Pretoria Magistrates Court heard that a 15 years old little fell victim to an unsuspecting predator, Lesiba Victor Marosa on February 2nd, 2020 after being sent to collect medication as she was experiencing an abdominal pain. Upon arrival at Marosa’s place, he asked if the medication had worked in suppressing the pain.

After saying not completely, he placed herbs on his fingers, undressed her, and inserted his fingers into her vagina. He then told her that the medication needed to penetrate further into her abdomen to work properly. Marosa proceeded to rape her by inserting his penis into her vagina. The minor pushed him away, got dressed, and returned home. The following morning, she wrote a letter to her mother detailing the incident and placed it in her mother’s bag.

While at work, the mother read the letter, informed the minor’s father, who collected the child from school and questioned her. After the minor confirmed what had happened, her father opened a case with the police.

Marosa was arrested the same day.Just after pleading not guilty and maintained his innocence, he argued that he is a first-time offender, has a wife, four children, and two grandchildren who are financially dependent on him, suffers from lung disease contracted in prison, and grew up without a father.

However, Magistrate Ruby Matlaila ignored his plea and said that he did not show any remorse or regard for the harm created to the young girl.
