Teenager arrested for the murder of a 30 years man in Mpumalanga

A 19 years old Gift Legjane is set to remain in police custody since his arrest on January 1st, 2026 for the alleged murder of a 30 years old man in Uitkyk, Middleburg, Mpumalanga.

Brigadier Donald Mdhluli said that they received a called in the early morning hours on the same day around 03:50 about lifeless body that was found by one of the community members.

Police went to the scene and, upon arrival, they found a lifeless body of a male victim inside the house, lying on the floor with serious injuries.

He was later identified as Mr Senzo Nhlakanipho Khumalo (30). The victim was certified dead by paramedics that also attended the scene. A murder case was opened and that’s when the investigation, by the Police, began.

The19 years old Legajane was linked to the crime following a preliminary investigation by the police which found that the duo was involved in an altercation earlier where the victim confronted again and stabbed to death by the accused and fled the scene.

He was arrested later on during the day made a brief court appearance on the 5th of January.
