Step-father accused of getting step-daughter drunk

A 45 years old step-father is set to make first court appearance today at Welkom Magistrates Court following his arrest on May 7th.
The man is accused of getting his 17 years old step-daughter drunk before raping her while her mother was away.
As a result of the alleged incident, the mother reportedly took her 17-year-old daughter to the Department of Social Development as they had an appointment on 07 May 2024. The girl was allowed to consult with a social worker in the absence of her mother.
In relaying the ordeal with a social worker, she alleged that on 06 April 2024 at about 16:00, her mother was not home when her 45-year-old stepfather gave her liquor and she went to sleep.
He approached her while she was asleep and instructed her to undress her pants. He raped her. After the rape ordeal, she reported the incident to her brother.
