New judge appointed for Senzo Meyiwa murder trial

Almost ten years later the Meyiwa family still finds itself experiencing secondary trauma with the case dragging from time to time.

The case has been marred with theatrics from both legal teams and witnesses.

Earlier on today a new presiding judge for the matter was appointed. A former soccer player now prominent judge, Ratha Mokgoatlheng.

This follows President Cyril Ramaphosa’s letters of suspension to Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela and Judge Nomonde Mngqibisa-Thusi on Tuesday, 28 June for failing to deliver judgements timeously.

The JSC is in the process of appointing a tribunal for each one of the judges.
