The Nelspruit Regional Court has found Bhutli Khuli Khumalo guilty of murder he committed seven (7) years ago.

The 48 years old Khumalo got into an argument with his then girlfriend in December 16, 2015 at Clau-Clau, Kabokweni in Mpumalanga. The argument temporarily broke up until later on in the evening when Khumalo went to his girlfriend’s home where he shot and killed her mother in front of her and her siblings and later on fled the scene.

His matter was reported to the police and was handles by the Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit in the Hawks who arrested him exactly a month later following an intensified successful manhunt.

Assisted by the Nelspruit Intelligence, the Hawks also managed to recover the fire he used to commit the crime at his house in Zwelisha Trust.

He was later on given bail after making court appearances but got rearrested after absconding during 2019.

Hawks Spokesperson in Mpumalanga Captain Dineo Sekgotodi said Khumalo was arrested trying to flee to Mozambique.

“He has been in Police custody since his re-arrest throughout the trial and conviction on Thursday. His case was postponed to June, 20, 2022 for sentencing.”
