Former police officer gets 6 years added to his life sentence on a different case

A 46 years old former police Sergeant who was already serving a life sentence got slapped with another 6 years prison term.
The former officer, Kelvin Brown James, made an appearance in the Springbok Regional Court where these years were added on Wednesday, 17 September 2025.
It is said according to evidence collected by James’ colleagues that he was arrested for accepting gratification of R3000 from an undercover police agent, and linking the agent with drug dealers where illegal drugs transactions took place. He further provided police escort for safe transportation of illegal drugs using state vehicles.
The court directed that his six years conviction should run concurrently with the life imprisonment.
He was declared unfit to possess a firearm.
