A duo, 21 and 26 years old parents got arrested by police in the North West while trying to report a case of missing child.

Police say they received a call about a baby girl who was seen crying alone on the streets on December 23rd.

Upon arrival, further investigations revealed that the couple left the 14-month-old baby girl in Tigane, close to Hartbeesfontein alone when they went to the nearby tavern.

It is said that the mother told the father to go fetch the toddler but he left her while running away after allegedly being chased by unknown men.

They went to the police station later on after failing to locate the whereabouts of the baby.

The couple appeared before the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court and was released on R 300.00 bail while the matter was postponed to February 5th.

The Department of Social Development was contacted and the baby was placed in the care of a relative.
