Amakhosi head coach Arthur Zwane said he doesn’t understand how it came about that they lost the game against Golden Arrows this past weekend seeing that it looked like they had everything under control.
Chiefs managed to secure an early lead in the first with a header from Sfiso Hlanti in the 9th minute however, the lead was enjoyed for almost the whole first half of the game after conceding a goal from Makhubeka in the 45+1 minute to equalize the game.
They dominated most of the first half with multiple chances on shots on targets.
Come second half, the youngster Shabalala hit the net for Kaizer Chiefs in the 47th minute to once again take the lead. All thanks to Du-Preez who spotted him.
But unfortunately, the Zimbabwean striker Knox Mutizwa, crushed Amakhosi’s hopes of bagging three points more on the log after scoring two goals that were 10 minutes apart just 22 minutes after Shabalala’s goal in the 69th minute.
After the match, coach Arthur Zwane bemoaned his team’s inability to convert opportunities into goals.
“We gave the game away,” he said frankly. “Look at the number of chances we created and look at how we conceded the goals. We were flat. We played in patches, but whenever we managed to beat the first line of confrontation and went forward, we looked dangerous. But we did not take our chances and we could have defended better. We created enough chances to win this game but I can’t fault the performance of the boys.”
