The Hawks in Mpumalanga has confirmed an arrest of 35 years Charles Mabuza for the alleged murder of Municipal Chief Traffic officer.

Spokesperson captain Dineo Sekgotodi said that the now deceased 60 years Judas Chiloane was with his lady friend between Hazyview and Graskop in his car parked on March 11th, 2023 when two suspects emerged from the bushes and approached them.

They then robbed the officer of his firearm and fatally shoot him dead before fleeing the scene.

He was declared dead on the scene by the medics after they were called by the female friend.

Mabuza was arrested two days later by the Hawk’s Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Crime Intellegence and Tactical Response following thorough investigations.

Sekgotodi said that they found during the interviews that he was linked to the alleged murder after being found in possession of a firearm while the second co-accused was on the run.

The matter was postponed to 22 March for appointment of legal aid.
