As South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) beneficiaries woke up in their number to queue for their early grants during the heavy nation wide lock down, an unfortunate incident occurred in Soweto where an elderly woman lost her life on the queue.
Police spokesperson Cpt Mavela Masondo confirmed that the woman collapsed outside the Pimville post office on Modjadji Road to another media house.
Cpt added that because the granny died of natural causes, they won’t be conducting any investigations.
This incident was also confirmed by one of the senior Sassa officials.
Due to national lockdown in an attempt to curb the spread of the Covid-19, elderly Sassa beneficiaries and people living with disabilities are receiving their grants earlier than usual.
