While death often comes unexpected, the passing of the Minister Jackson Mthembu also came as a shock to many South Africans after loson a battle to Covid-19 in just a week after being tested positive and had been kept under self-isolation.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) also sent out their condolences to the friends, family and fellow colleagues of Minister Mthembu.

The red berets describes him as one among very few dedicated, humble and principled leaders the government has ever had.

They also praised him for having kept his name out of dubious scandals of tenders and stealing of money to benefit his friends and family.

“During his tenure as the spokesperson for the ruling party, Cde Jackson refused to partake I’m carefully planned activities and reactionary programmes to destroy the Youth League generation which has set Economic Freedom in Our Lifetime as its Generational Mission.”

The party also said that had it not been Minister Mthembu, the amendment of Section 25 of the constitution for expropriation of land without compensation would not have passe in the 5th Parliament.

“The EFF salutes Cde Mthembu and we vow that in his memory we shall complete the constitutional amendment for land expropriation. We shall uphold progressive internationalism. Above all, we shall cherish the revolutionary value selflessness which he emulated”
