A case against Lekwa-Teemane Local Municipality Mayor Mpho Poland in the North West has been postponed to 22 February 2021 pending further investigations as the accused gets released on R1 000 bail.
The 36 years old Pilane appeared in the Delareyville Magistrates’ Court this past Monday on two charges of rape, sexual assault and two of abduction.
The NPA Spokesperson in the North West division Henry Mamothame said that the two complainants are allegedly minors aged 15 and 16 years.
“The case was opened in Christiana, but was transferred to Delareyville where the incident allegedly occurred. He handed himself to the police this morning where he was charged and later appeared in court” he.
African National Congress Woman’s League (ANCWL) in the region say they are not happy with the release and say women continue to be victimised even when they least expect to be.
