One of the Western Cape giant football clubs, Stellenbosch FC has decided to amicably part ways with their longest serving manager Steve Barker as he makes his way to the Tanzanian Premier League to lead Simba SC.

Barker left the team after failing to show up for competition this season having lost 8 games and drawing three times after 14 games.

Confirming his decision to leave after nearly nine years with Stellenbosch, Barker explained the reason behind his departure and expressed his gratitude to the Club’s management, staff, and players past and present for their support during his tenure.

“It is a bittersweet decision, but I feel the time is right for Stellenbosch to enter a new era with someone else at the helm, and I can only wish the Club continued success in the future,” he said.

He made way for one of the longest serving coaches in the PSL Gavin Hunt who was also let go the newly promoted KZN based team Durban City after taking them to the 7th position in the league with 22 points after 15 games.
