Rape case against Police Captain in Tshwane postponed

A rape case against a Police Captain and trainer who has been in service for 31 years has been postponed to May 23, 2025.The matter sent shockwaves in the media after it was alleged that the 59 years old man was arrested on May 7th for the alleged rape of the 20 years old woman.

It is said to the statement by the police that the victim was at the police academy in Pretoria West in April 2025, where she walked past the Captain who called her to ask why she did not salute him. It is said that the aspiring police officer said that she did not see him.

On the unfortunate day, May 6th, the young woman was allegedly walking with her platoon to their bungalows, when the accused Captain allegedly called her to his office.

Upon entering, it is alleged that the accused locked the door behind her and threatened her with dismissal for the earlier alleged misconduct of not saluting him if she did not sleep with him.

He allegedly instructed her to half undress while he also half undressed and proceeded to rape her. After, he then told her to get dressed and leave.

The lady immediately reported the matter to the authorities in the academy after the alleged incident and they informed the police and she was transferred to Thuthuzela Care Centre for assessment while the matter was further reported to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).

The matter was postponed to May 23rd for bail application which was opposed.
