Returning to the Health Ministry, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi appeared before the Portfolio Committee on Health for the first time since being re-elected as Health Minister.

Minister Motsoaledi found himself having to defend the NHI Bill which was signed earlier this year on the eve of 2024 general elections. He said the Bill should be embraced because it is for the benefit of all citizens mainly poor who can not afford private health-care.

In answering some of the questions posed to him by the committee members, he said there is no way the world can avoid another pandemic because of the climate change among other issues.

“There is no chance that the world will not face another pandemic, we know its coming. It is not good words but a reality.”

He said they have also realized that many people are becoming antibiotics resistant.

He added that many of these other issues are because of human behavior and lifestyle.
