Kelly Khumalo mentioned by Officer Sergeant Mogola as the mastermind in the murder of Meyiwa

Award winning singer Kelly Khumalo has once again found herself being mentioned in the murder trial of her deceased boyfriend Senzo Meyiwa who was shot and killed a decade ago.

Khumalo had been mentioned several times since the commence of the trial within a trial as the mastermind.

She was accused of having g been somewhat involved with the 5 accused as there had been a trace of calls or telephonic communication between her and the accused before and after the incident. An expert witness also found that there was communication even while the suspects where in police custody.

Sergeant Bathobakae Mogola who had been part of the case since 2018 said in the witness stand on Wednesday that they also found, during the investigations that Ms Khumalo was the mastermind.

Mogola was answering questions posed by Adv Charles Mnisi, who is representing accused number 3, Mthobisi Mncube, on who the mastermind was and their links to Mncube.

“My Lord, I only know one mastermind. My lord, I only know the name Nonhlanhla Kelly Khumalo.”

When asked why was she not arrested she said she was aware of the warrant of arrest that was applied for but somehow they never went through it.

She said she doesn’t why they didn’t go through with it because she was not the main person in charge of the case, she was only acting under instruction of Brigadier Gininda 

State said before that Khumalo is not on the list of their witnesses, the defence is not happy about the warrant of arrest not being followed through.
