Mokopane Magistrates Court found a traffic officer guilty of soliciting bribe from an undercover agent during a traffic stop.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) released a statement saying they believe they have proven their case beyond doubt to show that Vincent Madiga is guilty of the charge.

RTMC provided the court with video and audio evidence of the said incident that occurred in May 2019 along the N1 in Limpopo.

Madiga was arrested after asking R 200 from the motor vehicle driver not knowing that it was a set up and the said driver was working under over.

“During the court proceedings audio and video evidence was provided. Upon
completion of the proceedings the court concluded that the state had proved its case
beyond reasonable doubt therefore finding Madiga guilty on all charges laid against
him. This was despite the defence challenging the constitutionality of the video
evidence.”

“The matter was postponed to 29 September 2023 for pre-sentencing
procedures.”

The Road Traffic Management Corporation calls on citizens to report suspected acts
