SAPS member found with multiple bank and Sassa cards in Mpumalanga

Court appearance today of a police data typist who was arrested yesterday in Mpumalanga.

The 52 years suspect is facing fraud charges after he was arrested by the Hawks Nelspruit Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit together with Crime Intelligence on Wednesday,12 July 2023 at Hazyview Police Station.

Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, who is a police spokesperson said that they received a tipoff about the said suspect who is a member of South African Police Service employed under the Public Service Act, operating an unregistered business, loan shark business.

“A search warrant was obtained and executed. During the search the member was found in possession of 120 different bank cards belonging to victims who came and lent money against interest payable. He was charged and will be brought before court.”

The Provincial Head of the Hawks Major General  Gerber is appealing to members of the public to refrain from borrowing money from unregistered businesses.
