Estimated reading time: 3 minute(s)

With just a little over two weeks left before the commencement of Fifa Women’s Cup, Banyana Banyana finds themselves being involved in unnecessary fights with South African Football Association (SAFA) President Danny Jordan.

It was said that the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations winners were supposed to be sent off at Tsakane Stadium at 15:00, but unfortunately they are still stuck in their hotel.

There were several reports and allegations that the team refused to play but it is further said that it is not true.

The standoff between the team, Jordan and the SAFA leadership is said to be about the guaranteed participation fee of at least $30,000 (R565,000) promised by FIFA to every player partaking in the group stages of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australian and New Zealand, which kicks off on 20 July.

It is also alleged that the team expected to play a friendly game against Botswana today was not chosen by coach Desiree Ellis.

More to follow on the story.
