The High Court in Gauteng sitting in Johannesburg heard that a former police officer who was found guilty of shooting his ex-wife to death cannot be accommodated by any prison due to his permanent paralysis.

Lucky Mudau went to a Tembisa Hospital in February last year where the was employed and shot her to death before turning the gun on himself.

Unfortunately for him he survived but he is permanently paralyzed due to the injuries suffered from the shooting.

After shooting himself, Mudau spent months in hospital and was subsequently discharged into the care of the Tshwane Rehabilitation Centre.

He was diagnosed as a C5 quadriplegic a spinal cord injury which resulted in paralysis of both the upper and lower body.

An expert witness told the court that unfortunately Mudau needs 24hours attention as he is unable to do most basic things.

The matter is set to return in court on June 6th.
