Armed robbery gets ten years jail term

The North West Provincial Head for the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation – Major General Patrick Mbotho has welcomed the conviction of a 35 years old man for robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Police Spokesperson in the Province Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso said Bhekizitha Khaulani Madondo stormed a shopping complex in Majakaneng on November 4th, 2015 where he and others allegedly stole money, cell phones and fled the scene with clothes worth over R120 000.

“As the group was driving out of the complex, they spotted a police van, resulting in a shootout where a police officer was fatally wounded.”

He was arrested a month later and has been in police custody after being denied bail during his first appearance.

He was sentenced to ten years direct imprisonment.
