Deputy President of the governing party ANC and South Africa Paul Mashatile is set to make his debut on the podium in the National Assembly later today to respond to oral questions.
This according to the Presidency, is one of the ways to hold members of the executive accountable and ensuring public confidence in government by the public.
Mashatile was sworn in as the Deputy President earlier this year following the resignation of Mr DD Mabuza.
The Presidency said in a statement that Deputy President Mashatile will talk about, among other issues, the impact that the recovery of debt to Eskom by municipalities can have on the reduction of load shedding and the role that traditional leaders can play in facilitating investment and economic development in rural areas.
He will also respond on what specific measures he will take as the leader of government business in the National Assembly so that members of the executive respond timeously and adequately to parliamentary questions.
