A case against prosecutor has been postponed to November 11 for appointment of legal representative.

A 48 years old Regina Letshoo has been charged with defeating the ends of justice after allegedly tampering with evidence by omitting certain information in the docket involving a foreign national who arrested for allegedly driving an unregistered vehicle, possession of suspected stolen property and failing to produce legal documentation.

NPA Spokesperson in the North Henry Mamothame said that her tampering with the docket on August 27, 2020 saw the suspect ultimately being released and the matter struck off the roll.

“When the docket was ultimately found, following daily audit of cases that appeared in court, the omissions were noted with signature, authorizing the release of the suspect. It also alleged that she was not scheduled to report for duty on that day as per the rotational schedule during Covid-19 restrictions.”

“A duplicate docket which was kept by the chief prosecutor was then utilized to reenroll the case.”

Mamothame added that the suspect in the matter is yet to be located.

Letshoo rendered in her resignation with NPA in September while on suspension.

The Ga-Rankuwa Regional Court postponed her matter for the second time pending further investigations. She made her first appearance on September where a warrant of arrest made against after failing to appear in court. But it was later withdrawn after making a late appearance.

She was a prosecutor in the same court.
