Father allegedly kills children with poisoned energy drink

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi saddened by the passing of learners who lost their lives after allegedly being fed poisoned energy drink by their father.

The provincial department released a statement saying three of the five (5) children unfortunately lost their lives in hospital and school.

“Preliminary reports allege that the father of three deceased gave all his five children energy drinks in the morning while they were preparing for school. Four of the said learners consumed the energy drink after arriving at school on Thursday. Sadly two of the said learners died shortly at the school after complaining of stomach pains, while one was rushed to the nearest hospital but died on the way,” read extract of the statement.

The boys aged 6, 13, and 16 are said to be learners at Ratanda Primary School and Khanya Lesedi Secondary School.

Lesufi is set to visit the said schools and the family today.
