59 years old woman in court on fraud charges amounting to over R 120K

Court appearance today of a 59 years old woman who defrauded unsuspecting entrepreneurs of their money under the disguise of helping them secure funding for their businesses.

Police Spokesperson Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso said that the woman allegedly told the said entrepreneurs that she was from the National Empowerment Fund and offered to assist them with their business plans, applications for business funding and sourcing of projects.

In exchange for her services, she would then receive R 27 000 charging fee including fuel money but would not deliver on the promised services.

Captain Rikhotso said that she was arrested following an intense investigation by Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit.

She is expected to make her first appearance before the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court on 27 May 2022 where she will be facing four counts of fraud worth approximately R121 500.
