22 years old company director out on bail on PPE Tender corruption allegations

NPA confirms the release on bail of a director of a company accused of defrauding the Department of Education in the Eastern Cape of R 98 000 on PPE Tender fraud.
The 22 years old Linda Filda Muthana who is a director of Tanaka Solutions was released on R 2000 bail by Zwelitsha Magistrates’ Court on in Tuesday.
The accused was nabbed by Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation after submitting an invoice under false pretense of services supplied to 29 schools.
“It is alleged that during May 2020, Tanaka Solutions was awarded a tender by the Eastern Cape Department of Education (ECDoE) to supply Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to 29 schools. Muthana is reported to have unlawfully and intentionally made a misrepresentation to the ECDoE by submitting an invoice in respect of supply and delivery claiming for more items than initially delivered.”
This is according to Hawks Spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela who also added as a result, this saw the Department losing a little of R 98k.
The matter was remanded to 07 October 2021 for defence attorney.
