A case against the mentioned officials was opened with the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), they spent the weekend in police custody following their arrest on Friday and were released on bail on 18 October.

It was also discovered that Richard Masilela is not new to the courtroom of law because he has a pending matter involving corruption in Bronkhorspruit Magistrates Court.
