Police arrests three suspects aged 23 & 33 for carjacking

Court appearance today of three suspects aged between 23 and 33 who were arrested for carjacking a man after asking for a lift from him.

The incident is said to have occurred this past Monday, May 29 when the victim had just came back from a local tavern around 21:30 and was stopped by the said three suspects who asked for a lift to another local tavern in Sekgakgapeng.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said that two of the three suspects then entered the said tavern upon arrival with the said motor vehicle, silver gray Renault Kwid.

“Two suspects entered the tavern and one remained with the victim in the car, thereafter the victim went out to relieve himself leaving the key in the ignition. When he returned, one of the suspects took the car keys and ordered the victim to move from driver’s seat and drove off. Along the way, the suspects forced the victim out and fled with his motor vehicle.”

They were arrested few hours later driving the said car.

They will be appearing at Grobersdal Magistrate Court.
