Amakhosi has made an announcement on a mutual decision to part ways with defender Austin Dube after what many says was a poor stay at the club.

It has also been reported that Dube was axed by the Soweto giants after struggling to find a regular spot in the starting eleven.

The 30-year-old defender signed with Amakhosi from Richards Bay in July 2021 on a three-year deal and made his debut as an 84th minute substitute in a 2-1 win over Baroka FC at FNB Stadium a month later.

The team’s Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr said a year early termination of his contract followed several discussions with the player’s representatives.

“We are sad to see Austin leaving us, but we felt that it was in the best interests of the Club, as well as Austin himself, in terms of the furtherance of his career that we allow him the freedom to pursue other options and opportunities,” said Motaung Jr.

“Austin has been a model professional during his time with us and we thank him for his contribution to Kaizer Chiefs. We all wish him everything of the best,” added Motaung Jr.

Over his two seasons as a Glamour Boy, Dube played 18 matches in the Gold & Black, starting 13 times.

Richards Bay went on to announce him joining the team.
